a sliver of humanity
and here I lay,
position similar to that of a fetus
body shaking uncontrollably
from lack of clothing
face soaked in tears
and eyes itchy
scars consume my skin
and replace follicles with past events
and there you stand
staring blankly at me
also shivering.
also naked.
but your face is dry
and your eyes are clear
and your skin is soft;
a well-composed mirror image of myself
and here I call your name,
begging for dry eyes and comfort,
curling into a tighter ball
over these dirty sheets
and there you walk
stop at the bed's edge
crawl to my pitiful form
and curve your own body around mine
and here the shivering stops
the skin heals
the face dries
and there is how our story began
