death of a pianist
rough flesh and bone
pound on piano teeth
white key, black key
one by one
the sweet voice belting out
a perfect medley of notes
each one prancing into my ears
to settle in between
now the fingers that used to play
on this old creature
hide under soft soil
while the teeth begin
a collection of dust
although nobody is here
to brush off the ash
and play me this score,
the delicate music
still remains in my thoughts
