Paper Boat
there are no such things
as dreams
or nightmares
you are in all
and therefore
neither
I caught a leaf that fell today
it crunched like dry bones in my fist
with a wish
you did not break my heart
it was never whole
you just stole it
and set it on a paper boat
folded from a poem
to sail across the ocean
you blew it away
with a kiss
and laughed
and pricked my gaping wound
with a salty tear
my nightmares are sweet treasures
while my dreams just leave me empty
I sent you a message in a bottle once
it was long
I hope you never get it
you promised
I guess you kept your word
