Gray And Gold
She wonders at the soul she sees,
In the heart of the silver mirror.
She sighs, unable to believe:
In her eyes, a single tear.
The rosy cheeks, and gilded skin-
Lost with the sands of time;
The gold has faded to gray, it seems:
60 years declared in lines.
She feels the pain - what had been is gone,
The colors are washing away;
She turns and sees she's not alone-
He stands, admiring, by the doorway.
He smiles, and kisses her wrinkled cheeks,
Her hand in his gentle hold;
She softly smiles, and beholds the glass-
As gray returns to gold...
