Hoping
do you remember
when the sun beat upon the melting snow
green tipped earth shyly peering out
and we would run about without our shoes
convincing ourselves that winter was finally over
ignoring our pink and stinging toes
and the way the wind bit at our bare arms
making ourselves believe
simply because we couldn't handle the cold anymore
but then the leaden, dreaded snow would always
come again
