The Last Days of Summer
As I sit on the swing
In the nearby park
With all my friends surrounding me
The sun beating down on our chlorine died hair
We have one of those talks.
One of those talks you can only have with your best of friends
From how you want to change the world
To where your wedding will be and what dress.
From summer crushes to school crushes
To what sport you’ll play this year.
It’s one of those deep talks
That always answers the question
“Why”
Every girl has at least once
Sat in the nearby park
On the squeaky swings
Surrounded by her best of friends
With sun beating down
On their chlorine died hair.
