To Let Go
I sit up, head feels like a sponge
absorbing every sin of the following night
To stand, would mean to feel pain
To speak, Would mean to lie
To close my eyes, would mean to be at peace
How afraid we were that night
When you told me you had no way of getting home
I took you in my hand
I took you home
No longer feeling all alone
I wake up, body feels like a shovel
digging its own grave
To stand, would mean to fall
To speak, would mean to slur
To close my eyes, would mean to dream
How afraid we were that night
When I admitted to never coming home
I took you in my hand
Back to the land
Before letting you go
I lie here, a little less alive
purging your every memory
To stand, would mean I’m actually quite strong
To speak, would mean I have something you’d wanna hear
To close my eyes, would mean seeing you again
How afraid we were that night
When you confessed your love
I took you to my home
Hoping you wouldn’t fall asleep alone
Before you let me go
