Softball
Dirt under my feet,
Raising up like a cloud when I run,
Sun beating down,
Throw catch throw.
A rhythmic beat,
Like the beat of my heart,
And the flow of my words,
Slap of the ball hitting glove,
That’s the best sound to me,
Feet hitting the ground,
So full of power.
My arm, that’s where it all happens,
I throw the ball,
Bathing it as it fly’s across the field,
Smile illuminating my face as it lands right in the first basemen’s glove.
OUT the referee screams,
Its victory,
Its softball.
