If I Were The Night
If I were the night would you be the stars to look over me?
If I were a valley, would you be the mountains?
If I were the people of the world, would you be heaven?
If I were a rainforest, would you be my canopy of trees?
If I were a butterfly, would you be my wings to guide me?
If I were a child, would you be desire?
If I were the rain, would you be a storm?
If I were darkness, would you be the moon?
If I were words, would you be the pages of a book to surround me?
If I were a vine, would you be flowers?
If I were Earth, would you be space?
If I were a snowflake, would you be a glacier?
If I were words, would you be a scholar to love me?
If I were the sea, would you be a sailor?
If I were a canvas, would you be an artist?
If I were silence, would you be a mime?
If I were violence, would you be harmony to save me?
If I were the desert, would you be an oasis?
If I were nature, would you be sunshine?
If I were a rose, would you be my thorns?
These are all pretty analogies
Though the real question,
Is if I were me and you were you,
Would you love me, the way I, you?
