Your Fires
she's choking on the smoke
from those fires that you set
the gravel digs into her knees
tears wipe the dirt from her face
clean tiger-stripe trails down her cheeks
she reaches out
towards the fires
but she can't bring herself to touch them
though she would love to get lost in the flames
of your fires
she is sick of smoke and tears
and she is so cold
waiting to shatter like ice
so all her shards
can blow like dusty ash
around what is left of her world
since you burned it down
