Silence
sloppy silence drips through the open window
it doesn't make a sound as it hits the ground
and seeps through the sleepy house
it fills the cracks between the floorboards
finds all my hiding places
and lost socks
until there is only me and the silence left
and everything else is just shadows
and smoke
there are no regrets
left to smolder
and the broken mirror
that won't bring anyone bad luck
leaves glass dust on the ground that is sharp as nails
but the silence consumes all
leaving me nothing
but myself
and my ringing, hollow mind
and the glass dust under my fingernails
drowning in the sleepy house
