You Are Me
You zoom up on the zit on my face.
You critique my every move.
You tell me it’s over, but you come back.
You smile as you slap my face.
You cry when you smile.
You think it will disappear if you forget.
You convince yourself that pain doesn’t exist.
You convince yourself that you can handle it.
You convince yourself that you can’t deal.
You give me the present you got as a gift.
You give me your black heart.
You give me the best of you.
You look behind me as you talk.
You stare into my pupil.
You hear, but you don’t listen.
You listen to my awful advice.
You think yes, then say no.
You want to be the center of attention.
You want to be hidden.
You can’t bear to look at me.
You can’t bear to love me.
You can’t bear to hate me.
You are part of me.
You can’t part with me.
You can’t live with me.
You die without me.
You are me.
