I squeeze my eyes shut
Colors dance across the inside of my eyelids
I wish I could stay in this moment forever
Suspended in time
Frozen
Never having to open my eyes
Never having to face the class
And relay my oral report
I can hear kids murmuring
Waiting
Wondering when I will give in
Open my eyes
But I won’t
I’d sooner run out of the class
Tears streaming
So I do
