Of Foes
I stand amidst a crowded room
I stand alone amidst a room
They bow and curtsy decked in jewels
And smile wide like ignorant fools
With cold eyes and grinning faces
They greet all beside rose vases
Ruby petals and painful thorns
Flowers deceivingly adorn
The richest walls of granite stone
Befitting a king and his throne
They clamor for the brightest light
To be the most envied of all sights
High-heeled shoes entrap blistered toes
Yet they twirl on among their foes
Yet they twirl between rows and rows
Of foes and foes.
