1.1.11
As I stand, looking up at the stars, while the seconds pass by.
Vivid memories flash, as my surroundings suddenly die.
The beating of my heavy heart, is thrown and locked away,
As I communicate with the moon above, with words we never say.
The meaningless kisses that now fall off our bodies like dust on to the ground,
The dirt that rakes our skin and the happiness that wails to be found.
The unlocked doors that creep behind us as we search for the keys,
The empty words that change meaning and the hands that smell of grease.
The rosy sunset that never fails and the rains that never dry,
The mountains that never outgrow and the imaginations that never fly.
When sleep is conquered and the eyes beg to come to a close, where everything is not what it seems,
And they say that a broken wing carries countless dreams.
The bare feet that sank into the sand, the tide that rose and fell,
The scattered petals of an abandoned flower and those moments when we thought that everything else might as well go to hell.
The breeze that journeys across the world and comes back with many stories to narrate,
The book that lay unfinished and when 3 am ain’t too late.
So as I look back up and count the stars those are visible in the sky,
On reaching the last one, I bid the past moments goodbye.
What lies ahead now may not be easy and definitely not clear,
But as I quietly settle down and observe the passing cars, I welcome yet another year.
