Two Sides of a Tragic Love Story
One tear falls-
The whole earth shakes.
He tries not to listen
To her heart break.
She forces a smile
And fight back the tears.
The word 'goodbye'
Is all she hears.
He does not ask
If she'll be okay.
Instead he simply
Walks away.
The tears pour like rain
As they wash down her face.
She knows her happiness
Has suddenly been erased.
She secures the mask
Into place.
Trying to cover the pain.
That's stamped on her face.
He can see through
The act she puts on.
He can sense her happy spirit
Is dead and gone.
No matter hwo hard she tries,
She can't put any effort
Into moving on
And making herself better.
He sits and watches
As she steadily drifts away.
Wondering if the bubbly girl
Will return someday.
She feels the eyes
Always watching her
Knowin gthat everyone
Is deeply concerned.
He wants to take it back,
But can't make himself.
He knows that she'll think
That he's only trying to help.
It's seven weeks later,
And still no smile.
She finds the days
Less and less worthwhile.
He sees her walking,
ipod on and hoodie up.
She sees him and looks down...
Does she see that truck?!
When she tucked her head
Because she saw him,
She didn't realize the danger
She had put herself in.
He runs to save her,
To try and push her out of the way.
He's screaming on the inside,
"This can't happen! Not today!"
She sees him running,
"What's going on?"
She turns off her ipod,
Then she hears the honk.
Just as the truck is about to reach her,
He pushes her aside.
But not in enough time,
To get himself by.
She hits the pavement hard,
Warm liquid covers her face.
She looks around for him-
But something is in the way.
A man in white
Reaches for his hand.
Then smiles and says,
"You'll get another chance."
She reaches his body
Just as his eyes open again.
He smiles a weak smile,
And she's happier now than she's ever been.
They both were touched
By an angel that day.
They were given a second chance
To make things okay.
Two weeks later
And they're back in love.
Knowing it was preserved
By God above.
They're a miracle to each other,
And both can tell
That no matter the situation,
Love never fails.
