Chalk Board
what would I give
to wipe your mind clean
and blank
of me
a fresh chalk board
with a new long, smooth piece of chalk
ready for me to fill it with fresh words
and pictures
new pictures
there is no more room on your board right now
it's too full of ugly things
misspelled words
and bad drawing attempts
I have no more space
to change your mind
and start over
but maybe
if I wait long enough
those old drawings will fade
just enough
for me to scribble them out
write over them
but they will never truly be gone
it is too late for you
or for me,
depending on how you look at it
