Fire Heart
You say the devil
isn't real.
It's all a matter
of appeal.
What appeals
to our senses.
What we chose
to believe.
See his horns
and his tail..
just a myth
if you will.
The fire that
surrounds him,
just a reflection
of his kill.
The devil,
he whispers
he is sneaky
and quaint.
He dresses his
words in
sweet harmonies
that we all can relate.
He persuades you
with temptation,
he wants to see
you squirm.
And so he will
build you up
just to watch
you fall.
Taking a dagger to your heart.
The devil lives in
each and every mind.
Spreading his wealth
to all mankind.
And in your eyes
I see his flames.
I wonder if you'll
ever return again.
But I see right through you.
When your heart is on fire.
Because mine is made of ice.
The strongest of desire.
