I Hear Modern Day America Singing
I hear modern day america singing.
Singing mostly of ignorance.
I can hear the incompatibility of happiness and truth.
I can hear the fallacies of our leaders stream from every conner fill our ears.
I listen the screeching of metal-bodied workers in the process of mass production.
I can hear kindness becoming nothing but a card game.
I can hear all of the destruction and vengeance and retaliation.
I can hear the poisoned skies and and yellow waters yearning for more.
I hear the judgement of others turning into hypocrisy.
I can hear individuals and independents being replaced with followers.
I can hear simple morals being forgotten and left to rot.
I listen to people being driven by nothing but envy, greed, and jealousy.
I can hear how people have come to take life for granted.
I can hear bleak times in the distance if something doesn't change.
When I hear modern day america singing, I do not hear the sweet melody of a hopeful future.
I hear a scream for help.
