Bitten Tongue and Clenched Fists
Something’s wrong.
It’s crawling through my insides,
right under my skin.
It starts in the pit of my stomach,
irritating acid.
It moves through me,
attacking my lungs as I hold my breath.
It sends my heart into overdrive,
innumerable beats per second.
My organs start to boil in my blood.
I feel the inferno tearing through me.
This resentment,
this rage,
this revulsion,
is the beast that emanates
from deep within my soul
when malicious words protrude
from the mouths of peers.
