Dragon
The staircase descends
I don’t dare look
Where I’m headed
The air is stale and moist
My throat feels so dry
Like I haven’t had water in three weeks
I see your tail first
Slithering and whipping the ground
Green scales so slippery I can see my mirror image.
You smile, an ominous smirk
And I see your snarled teeth
As distorted as your heart
Your vilifying yellow eyes
Bear into my soul slanderously
Watching my every move
Scoffing at me
From any perspective
In any manner you can think up;
With your fiery glare
I feel inferior;
Alone without a shield
But I don’t cringe
I see your weakness—
Your jealousy towards my individuality.
