Tribute to Descent
My memories are far from fresh; time begins to take its toll.
Your laughter, once vibrant, is beginning to fade.
Hold on a little longer, Dad.
Mind, please don’t get lost.
Stay with me; give me strength.
Your smell will begin to fade over time.
Your hugs will no longer linger on my skin
Your smile will no longer resonate in my mind.
There are a few things, however, that will not escape my memory.
Those eyes, for one; I’ll see them every time I close my eyes.
I’ll see them every time I look in the mirror.
For two, that love.
Your love will never leave me.
Details will fade but you will not leave me.
You live in me.
I am you; forever and always, Pop.
