Air Above
Sometimes it feels like an ocean
Is over you
Drowning you in a sea
Of your tears
Waves pull under
They grip you
And shake you
Until all you want
Is to wake
To be away from the tide
Calling out over miles
To what you don’t know
Sucking you deep
Into the still
And you try
You wish you could see the air
A vision above
But you never get there
Not quite
The sea is too strong
It conquers
When you are alone
So take my hand
Take my hand in yours
Let us try together
Palm to palm
Flesh on flesh
I will lift you up
And we can float above
Flying over it all
Watching the waves crash below
Just out of reach
Shrinking, shrinking
We will soar
Farther than you ever imagined
Into the stars
Into the dawn
Into the rising sun
