Drifting Away
The sand slightly sinks
Under my heels
Hugging my toes
Like a long lost mother
Finding her child
After a lifetime separation.
The stones and shells
Tickle my arch
Poking at my dreams
And pushing my problems away
Like the clumps of sand
My feet pull apart
With every step I take.
Water’s foam
Tiptoes up
And kisses my toenails.
And as it crashes
Into the shore,
It crashes into me,
Wiping my conscience clean
From all the months
I’ve gone without this
One moment.
Right here.
Right now.
Then, just like the driftwood
Stuck between
The stubborn rocks,
I am free.
