left behind
I sit
I stare
I breathe
Waiting for him
But knowing he’ll never come home
He’s been gone since I can remember
Gone to fight
Gone to help
But forgotten
I needed his help
So now
With no one to talk to
I sit
And stare out the window
Overlooking the field
Hoping that his smile will
Rise the sun with every footstep
Hoping he will come walking down the road bags in hand
With no bruise on his skin
Or if a letter will come thundering into the mailbox stating the tears I will cry
I realize this can not be
But I will always be looking
Breathing the air that was once his
And sitting there
Still like a mountain
Never moving
