Jungle
I prepare to enter a jungle.
A world full of predators,
And I, as a freshman, am prey.
As I take a deep breath,
The overwhelming scent
Of sweat and Axe cologne
Fills my nose.
I look around the world before me.
All I see is hunting.
A small push among friends,
A more aggressive shove
Towards the weak prey.
When I listen closely
I hear teenage mating calls.
A calm, deep sound from males
Which is answered
By a shrill, high-pitched
Female scream.
Finally,
I weave my way through the chaos,
And reach an unexpected safe-haven:
Math class.
