"First"
My dad tells me I am a Princess,
and that there is a “first” for everything.
The hard part is waiting,
but deep down I know I will have success.
Still haven’t had my “first” kiss,
not because of my parents,
but my standards is what people miss,
and yet they say these are the moments.
I am seventeen,
and already thinking of who I’ll end up with,
because from what I’ve seen,
Happily Ever After is only a myth.
According to this world if you want to be noticed,
you have to look beautiful,
but most of the time it is just lust,
and I’m no angel but I know how to be careful.
I just don’t want that “first” rejection,
I want what every girl wants: true love,
and to get that we must take action,
by looking for guidance from above.
Every night I pray for that special guy,
and I ask God to help him stay pure,
and in God’s time we will soon see eye to eye,
then that will be the moment for sure.
He has been treating me like a lady,
maybe he will ask me on a date,
although he will have to ask my daddy,
I’m sure there won’t be a debate.
I’ve heard boys are trouble,
and you never quit learning,
they are so much like figuring out a riddle,
that sometimes they leave your heart breaking.
But this I know,
that if you smile,
a guy will notice that glow,
and he will want to go that extra mile.
I believe I am worth being pursued,
and my dreams of Prince Charming,
where I am rescued,
I can then receive God’s blessing.
By waiting there is a price to pay,
and every princess has rehearsed,
that till that special day,
you can finally be his “first”.

"In the end, it's still best to wait for the one we want rather than settle for what's available. It's still best to wait for the one you love rather than to settle for the one who's around. It's still best to wait for the right person, because life's too short to waste on the wrong one."
