Liberated Beauty
I came to live,
to find myself,
and seek my soul.
I came to discover,
to explore differences,
and find a place
where nobody holds the higher ground.
I came here to find
what society and people
both lack.
To make peace with the water
and friends with the dancing wind.
I came here to question my
comfortable life,
to find the answers
that no one else holds.
I came here to live,
to reach out and question
poverty and
inequality
but never beauty-
For that might be the only pure
substance
that surrounds us.
I came here to
live,
discover,
find,
question
what I had once known
but do not know now.
Once,
I had experienced comfort.
Now I am able to experience pain-
and that grounds me.
Now, with beauty,
I have been liberated.
Liberated by time
and space
and a calmness
that nothing else can give me.
This beauty has become me,
and I it.
Two universes,
one of flesh,
and one of terra,
bound together
like two frayed strings
that have finally found their ending.
