Scattered
Anger wells,
Unconfined,
As careless fingers stumble across a keyboard,
Tripping over black,
Skidding over white,
Sonorous screeches
reduced to a whisper,
Halting suddenly
Then starting up again,
unreliable,
inconsistent,
the melody plays on till the end.
accidentals cover the page,
notes scattered across the lines
Cover his name.
It’s mine now
And all but remains
The wisp of a song I once tried to play.
