Why I Have Hope
I’ve learned a lot so far
I’ve learned that sometimes you have to fall from a mountain to realize what you’re climbing for
I’ve learned that you can fail once
Or you fail a hundred times and then succeed
I’ve learned that sometimes it’s okay to cry
But sometimes it isn’t
And I’ve learned that often the best way to get through the pain
Is to just close your eyes and remember that it won’t last forever
I’ve learned that it’s easy to fall into love
But hard to fall out of it
I’ve learned that sometimes you need to let go
And just hope for the best
And when things get really bad
Just remember that it makes you stronger
I’ve learned that you can’t rely on anything
Except yourself
I’ve learned that if you really love someone
You will know when to stop holding onto them
And just let them go
I’ve learned that nothing lasts forever
Except for maybe love. I wouldn’t know.
I’ve also learned that miracles do exist
And I’ve learned that sometimes you’re just at the wrong place at the wrong time
I’ve learned that sometimes saying nothing says more than talking
And sometimes you need to speak less but say more
I’ve learned that if your worrying you need to start hoping
And if you’re dreaming you need to start doing
And I’ve learned that sometimes you need to pause in your pursuit of happiness
And just be happy
But I’ve also learned that this is something that not ready made but must be acquired through ones own actions
I’ve learned that when you’re broken, bruised, and nearly shattered
That you aren’t “fine,” no matter how many times you say you are
And I’ve learned that pain is there for a reason
And the thing I learn every day
Is that there are still quite a few things that I haven’t learned at all
So far I’ve discovered what it feels like to love, live, learn, laugh, and succeed
And I’ve also discovered the heartache that comes with it
And I’ve finally figured out that this can seem like the most painful thing in the world
And that’s cause it is
But it, too, won’t last forever
And that is one reason to be hopeful
