Disaster is what brings us together
Something so vile becomes a treasure
For when the world is in danger
We are quick to take off our armor
And aid and parade the unity we find
In a terrible time, for we are no longer blind
To the prejudice and the injustice
Of a society that we thought was timeless
And we build a sturdy bridge across the world
Lives are lived and happiness is finally unfurled
Still the loss in such a treacherous event
Hangs low in our hearts as we lament
And soon the tears are filling oceans
We strive to find the great beacons
Of light in all the coarse darkness
Looking for a force that is changeless
Until we recognize the world will still turn
And the seas will still thrash and churn
But if there is peace, those wretched things
Won’t matter as the silent truth rings
That there is nothing to change but our actions
And as we struggle for our own perfections
We see, through the thinning haze, we can never
Be anything more than humans in every chapter
