seedling
I can not wait until every single limb is dead
when the rot of this tree causes it to
come crashing down upon itself
for I will have sewn the seeds of my very own
somewhere very far from this wasteland
I will rejoice when the day comes
when my children can awaken glazed-innocent eyes
to a different, golden world -
free of this hatred, this oppression,
this mutual pact that scars us all
this anti-love
they will not know my trials, and never experience my pain
and that shall be their salvation, their innocence
my gift, all that I can hope to give
every moment spent now shall not be one wasted
every second of torture turned, one less to bear
and all though I am only the roots of this new life
they shall know what it means
to love
