The Chemistry at Heart
They sit there,
In science class.
She watches the room,
And all the subtle movements.
She looks in bewilderment,
At the boy across the way.
She cannot believe,
She is truly invisible to him.
The look of curiosity,
Spreads across her face.
She ponders at many thoughts,
About the boy she sees.
She tries to focus,
But it shifts to him.
She wonders,
About any possibility.
Her minds strays,
Into a fantasy.
She sees them together,
She breathes a sigh.
The bell rings,
Bringing her to reality.
She blinks wearily,
The room has emptied.
One figure remains,
It is the one she hoped for.
She looks in admiration,
Her face shines brightly.
He smiles at her,
And waits at the door.
She finishes putting her stuff up,
And heads for the doorway.
They walk to the next class,
Eyes fixed on one another.
The separate on the pathway,
She looks at him once more.
She head for class,
With a new thought in her head.
The thought so powerful,
It screams itself over and over.
She waits for tomorrow,
Whatever it may bring.
And thinks one day,
Maybe they will be together.
