Breakdown
Sometimes when I feel,
Like I’m going to fall apart, limb by limb
By the stress of reality,
I grab a hold of my ribs, all the way around
Both sides, for my ribs hold me together,
They keep my breath close to me heartbeat,
They keep my soul from escaping and leaving me,
Lifeless, grounded I hold them there in the memories
Of slow sorrowful goodbyes of beloved,
Friends and family,
I hold my ribs,
Until I feel solid,
Until my limbs are filled with strength again,
From the feeling of breaking apart,
I am than strong once more and ready,
To face life’s cruel and brutal reality.
