The Self Conscious Writer
I’m self conscious in my writing
It’s not that I think my writing is bad
It’s actually quite the opposite
It is genius, beyond brilliant
But that’s not what I question
The question is not of competence
But confidence in my own competence
Am I gravely mistaken in the assumption it is great
Will someone come along and crush it
Or affirm it to my great satisfaction
Leaving me fulfilled, lingering in relief
Or downtrodden, engulfed in disgust at my own impudent pride
I will never know until my prose graces the readers eyes
Now it is up to you to decide
