Long Lost Lover
I remember that faithful day as if it were yesterday,
The day that I had lost my sweet innocent lover to the entrapment of death.
Oh, how it pains me to speak of her demise; how I stood staring helplessly
As her life slowly left her body and with her dying breath said
“I love you; don’t forget me my love.”
Some say that I am a foolish man to spend the rest of my
Life alone, mourning the loss of my love,
It’s an enigma of when you have lost the person
Who you have shared your life with;
How her voice still resonates through my every thought
Or when I sit alone in my home once filled with life now dark and silent;
Allowing depression to fuel the throbbing pain that preys on my heart
While I force myself to reminisce, flipping through the pages, once symbols
Of hope, love and accomplishments, now only representations of the one I have lost.
