My Native American Friend
Dark eyes
Dark hair
Flashy smile
And a warm touch
Not Jonny
Not Kyle
Not Blayke
Pure Zach
I felt his heart beating
I know he has one
I felt his sadness reaching
Out past his built up walls
I heard the truth in his voice
Like an icy blade pressed on my neck
I felt his pain with every breathe
I don't know first hand
The things he's gone through
Or what those black copper eyes have seen
But I know his scent
And I know his heart
Both pure
Both clean
I know his integrity
I've heard his past
I know his heart's in the right place
I can hear his voice filled with love
I can feel the sadness as he looks away
I can't understand why he chose this path
Nor can I say I like it
But if he's happy the way he is
I'll not judge against him
I can still hear his heart
I can still smell his scent
I can still hear his voice
That day we really met
And so I'll wait for him to come around
No I'm sorries
No angry words
Just a slight shift in the orbit
Of our worlds
Coming closer
Where before we collided
Gradually working our way back in
And I know it'll happen
The day I see his eyes again
I know it's soon
The day I'll hear his voice say my name
And I know it's true
When Kyle says he may have loved me
But things I cannot say in return
Maybe
Just maybe
I love him in return
