Half Empty
A glass sits upon the table
Glittering in 60 watts of light
Beside a book
A spoon
And a phone
Red liquid swirls inside
Casting shadows on the book
Reflections and colors
Swirling in one mass
I lift the spoon and place it inside
The liquid swells to meet it
Rising up to embrace it
Like an old lover come home again
My phone buzzs lighting up
A name scrolls across the front
I close my eyes and pick it up
Sam
Time to face the music
