Childhood Horrors
Moving
Slowly unscathed,
Bleeding at heart…
Swollen lips,
Steely gaze.
Cold hard horror.
Why will no one come
When I scream?
My ears bleed with every sound he makes.
His bony hands grip me like talons.
He won’t let me go.
He won’t let me go.
I say his name
Once…
Twice…
Thrice…
Is that even a word?
I don’t care.
I’m just pleading,
Let me go.
Home…
Heaven…
Hell…
Anywhere…
I don’t care.
I scream that wretched word.
Praying I be free.
And then, he lets me go.
No longer cares to control his slave.
Tears stream to my eyes.
Tiny rivers of hope coursing through the pain.
Can I go?
I don’t know.
He doesn’t try to stop me.
He always gets his way.
S***, he calls me
You’ll be back, so he says.
Free for a minute.
Not real freedom.
I’m haunted – memories.
Thousands of rape.
