Mother Dearest
A mass of copper fire circles your head in thousands of waves.
Your blue eyes water and swim in regret.
For the mother you never were.
Screams echo in your thoughts.
You stood by and watched us get tortured.
But what choice did you have?
Your thin lips battered, bruised from the beating.
Tears, like rivers streaming down your cheeks.
Why did you stay?
Because you had no where else to go.
He used to crush our dreams.
Kept you from leaving the house for too long.
He owned us all,
Body and Soul.
Your mouth trembles in fear and rage,
He will not let you see me.
And now, seven years later,
You have forgotten me.
In my place there is only sadness.
A resigned place in your heart for me.
But it's too late,
I don't want your love anymore.
And you're lost because you don't know how to get me back.
I love you, that doesn't mean I like you.
I have no respect for a woman who cannot stand up for herself.
Your "sorries" fall on deaf ears.
My weeping over you is done.
My heart wrenched from your side.
All I have to thank you for is birth.
Nothing else you ever did was right.
Mother Dearest,
Do not cry,
This is how it's meant to be.
Mother Dearest,
Do not die,
For the loss you have felt is only the beginning.
Mother Dearest.
Oh...
Mother Dearest...
