Here I Am
My world cracked,
and each lengthened scar
revealed the imperfections that lay beneath.
The beauty banished behind the ragged skin
and jagged ends became exposed.
Each crevice explored the depths,
discovering what had remained concealed.
And to my dismay
I lay, for everyone to see- vulnerable.
Your eyes watched with uncertainty,
and skepticism kissed your skin.
And at the end of my horizon
your figure shrank, until I stood alone.
And from the ashes I rose,
a phoenix, whose scarlet bodice glittered.
But I soared in isolation, detached from what I'd known.
And to my dismay,
I lay, for you to see- vulnerable.
