Rabbit
In General
he saw what made her
and how it closed around.
The walls extend
and the corners jutt
so she chooses a way
It’s Wrong,
but the oil-soaked wick
is ashes
so the reprocess begins
And the candle helps,
but in time
like everything
the wax covers her
Simplify to understand
and become ignorant to forget.
Lost.
Yet she won’t admit
save through liquid
He wants to
and occasionally
she lets him
sometimes
She,
he
know, but pretend
like a white rabbit under a grapevine
The General,
She saw what broke them.
straight and fast.

The universe was exploding, each particle away from the next, hurtling us into dark and lonely space, eternally tearing us away from each other--child out of the womb, friend away from friend, moving from each other, each through his own pathway toward the goal-box of solitary death
