"Within the pages of this book you may discover, if you look beyond the spell of written words, a hidden land of beasts and birds..."

Little warriors that can hide under blankets
Are the ones who play and laugh the whole day away
Yet when it comes to battle
The opposite is revealed
When the flag is long gone
And the mounds of dirt is all that is left is when they show sadness at last
While they remember that ring in their ears
At 3:00 A.M. each morning, naturally, awake
Though battle cries of war
And replies of, “5 minutes more mom!”
Is when true strength and courage emerge
Wounded or in one piece
All people pray on return one day
For those little kids, those warriors.

I was inspired to write this after talking to a war veteran at school. I learned many things about that life style and put some of my thoughts onto paper; which came to be this poem.
