What If?
What if there was no light,
There was nothing wrong, nothing right?
What if everything was went black,
And the clock would not move forward or back?
What if there was no reason or rhyme,
They’d ring the bells but they wouldn’t chime?
What if no poem, or not even a song
Could put right what you got wrong?
What if, for a moment, time stood still
And the world waited and waited until
They just give up and sigh
Without giving it a chance, a try?
What if you could get to meet and see
The person you’ve always wanted to be?
The person you wish you wish you were, so bad,
That when you look at yourself, you’re disappointed, sad?
What if you look at that person and say:
“That’s going to be me someday,”
Or would you be timid, tense, or stiff,
And keep pointlessly thinking “What if?”
