Steadiness
And the chirpchirp
of the bird was the
ticktick
ticking
of a metronome.
O, how gently it
pulsed and
kept
time
for the world around.
Yet its song fluttered—
its tempo erratic
and unsteady.
You’d think the tone and
timbre of its soprano
song
would be enough
to keep things
calm,
tranquil—
harmonious.
But the beat wavers.
And all I want is
a nice,
even
andante.
