Birthdays
A chocolate cake with M&Ms that say “3”
Picnic blankets inside, family and friends eating together
I think there was watermelon involved
I’m wearing my favorite dress, the one with the fuzzy cats on it
I’m feeling good, I’m looking good, the cake is tasting good,
And even though they were pastel M&Ms instead of original like I had imagined,
I really enjoy turning three.
And it’s still true to this day, fourteen birthdays later:
Whenever family and friends are gathered together
And there’s a great cake,
Even if things go wrong or a little differently than I had imagined,
It will be a great birthday.
(...and wearing my favorite dress still always helps, too.)
