The Actress
From where I sit amongst the crowd,
Exclaiming from either joy or wonder,
I scrutinize the private affairs
Of a new and foreign world
From a sea of expectant faces
Captivated by the shimmering, pale beauty
Emerging from the shadows like a thick curtain
The atmosphere is heavy upon me
As I am unable to shift my gaze
And, though I know of her gentle love and kindness,
This woman before me piques my interest,
Blending her frail, angelic disposition
With an oddly immense voice
That seems to demand my utmost attention
But, as the magic of the night fades
And the moment of adventure has passed,
I am left at somewhat of a loss
As I attempt to embrace an overwhelming sense of longing,
Conflicted and incomplete until our next encounter
