The Calm
I step into the thundering rain
As tormented as my heart's convictions
In an attempt to wash myself
Of my love's enduring confliction
I tremble from either cold or fear
And wonder how I'll face the day
As I'm caught in the calm
Of the violent storms of May
And in the silence I begin to sob
With no one but myself to blame
As I wonder if my tears
Will ever fall with the grace of rain
