Rusted Halo
She tries and tries with all her heart,
Though shadows follow her every step.
She treks through snows of the mind,
And storms of the heart.
She fixes those broken,
And reaps no reward.
Her rusted halo hangs,
Fallen over her neck,
Ready to choke her.
But she lives for us.
Through all the bad,
And the minor good,
She goes on.
Someone needs to tell her,
That she is beautiful,
That she is strong,
That she is caring,
That she is alive.
She stays for us.
The weak and the hurt.
The stubborn and the pained.
The confused and the damaged.
She helps those of us who need her,
Even if we do not know.
We should shine that rusted halo,
Just to show how much we care,
And how much we need her here.
No matter how bad it is for us,
Our dark angel with her rusted halo
Is always here for us.
I thank her.
