Boy Blooming Man
Boy blooming man, small creature on first flight
Stumbled blind, numbly, nimbly fallen from a high nest
A marble-smooth laminate, acting as wood,
Our hands, stubborn magnets, pretty ornaments almost colliding upon my desk
Fingertips unsure, trembling like strangers crossing on a spiral path in the park
Close to touching, nearly knowing
Just the steps in this strange waltz
Stuffed room, studying you, crouched and starving
Thirsty myself, throat like wild wood, not yet sanded
Edges ruffled and not smooth
Scars deep, eyes watering and enamored with the floor beneath your feet.
Sturdy tree, wounded soul, a broken candle, sucking up dirty bits of flame
I fly, but only tricked, a lovely kite dancing soft ballet along the wind
As the stars sing, pale against the milky wash of moonlight
Skin, ravaged, ruined,
Two hearts, chasing one another in endless circles,
In one sharp sweetness
Caught in a beautiful orbit, floating,
Love in the way I am pierced and pulled with chains
In each corner where I might find you hiding
Boy lost with closed ears, innocent white,
You crawl unseen, through sand and broken things,
Up and nested beneath my skin
What quick words to sing when you begin to listen!
And two becomes many, and he becomes we
Second by second
Time glues us up
And wraps our eyes in sapphires
Might every moment sparkle
Like born stars, exploding with light
Boy becoming man, girl waking,
Sight lost in dark nights on the balcony
Where love is found
